More Detailed Information:
As a PC, you receive a list of registered Dems in your neighborhood (usually), and in the case of Mike's campaign, they said the list would be 100-200 people. You call all the people on your list, and identify them as a no, yes, or maybe/not sure in regards to their support of Mike. Your job is not to change the minds of the NO people to yes, but to try to influence the maybes or not sures to vote for Mike, and to be sure all your voters who are YES to get to the polls on election day. The campaign has asked PCs to call through their list twice. Once you have done this, you have a number of people you have not reached, and you "cut turf" as they say, and knock on the doors of the people you did not reach. The campaign says that we will be doing literature drops when we knock on doors. They have also said that Mike might come with some of us when we go to knock on the doors of our list, which I think is a great idea. This may seem a little daunting, but 100-200 people on a list is very doable. The way I liked to do it was get a couple of friends as volunteers, and have a calling party on a Saturday afternoon. Give each person a page, with a script (we practiced our phone speech with each other first of course), and call away. Knocking on doors can be done the same way. Delegation is key to being a PC and getting things done, and even if some of our club members say they don't have time to be a PC, they absolutely then need to commit to helping a PC from the club for at least one afternoon of calling or door knocking. On election day, the PC then helps with the GOTV effort, making sure to visit polls and see if their YES people have voted. This includes calling to remind them, giving them rides, etc. I had a huge midterm during the CA presidential primary, so I had some of my volunteers help with the GOTV efforts.
