Thursday, June 24th, 7pm
Were you there in 2008 when the Burbank Democratic Club converted a regular meeting into a field trip to see John Dean speak in Glendale?
Coming up this month is another special opportunity: For our regular June 24 meeting, the BDC is making the night an outing to hear noted author and Daily Beast regular Dr. Reza Aslan in Van Nuys, His most recent title is Beyond Fundamentalism: Confronting Religious Extremism in the Age of Globalization, and will have copies on sale after the Q&A and readings.
The night is free and is co-sponsored by sister club Valley Grassroots for Democracy: 7 p.m. in the State Building Auditorium, 6150 Van Nuys Blvd. at Calvert. Entrance is on Calvert and metered parking is available. VGD had Dr. Aslan in April 2008 and it was a packed house!
Of course, RIDES from Burbank to Van Nuys will be available: call 818-846-6345 to line one up.
As we take a slight breather from months of the intense and early-bird campaigns already, look for California's water issues as the regular club meeting speaker's topic on July 29-back on our home court in Burbank.
QUICK NOTE: The club's voter registration tabling will resume around Burbank after Labor Day for the fall campaign, but there's a special July 3 Saturday effort planned at a couple venues. If in town and interested in a short shift, call 818-645-6345.
Hope to see you for this thoughtful, change-of-pace speaker on July 24!
