July 29th, 7pm Burbank Senior Artists Colony Auditorium
THE NEXT MAJOR CRISES: WATER
Actually, the water crises is upon us now.
Los Angeles pumps water from the Colorado River, the Owen’s Valley and the Sacramento Delta and yet all the water that falls in the mountains that feed the Los Angeles watershed is diverted off our roofs, down our streets and out the LA River to the ocean.
Joe Flores, Conservation Department manager with Burbank Water and Power, will get you up-to-date with the reality and the outlook of the water crisis at different levels of government, including our local ration plan and future in Burbank.
Find out how bad it could be and what is being done to avert the disaster. Find out what you can do as an individual to make a difference and what we as a community must do if Burbank and the rest of LA area are going to survive. We will also screen a short video about Rainwater Harvesting and/or a short award winning film about the whistle-blower who saved the LA river from losing it’s Clean Water Act protections.
Be sure to be on hand at this meeting when we pick a day to crew the county party’s booth at the LA Country Fair, as we did last year.... plus get the latest on what’s going down at state, federal and local levels, as always.
The Burbank Senior Artists Colony is located at: 240 East Verdugo Ave. The auditorium is on the second floor, look for signs.
